Jewelry Inspired by Place.
Each piece I conceive is not purely from imagination, but inspired by my travels. I carry a two-part silicone molding kit that allows me to take impressions of rocks, leaves, shells and other found objects, so I can take home the texture, but leave the object for others to experience.
In the studio, all my work is produced using Metal Clay, a medium composed of about 90% powdered metal and 10% organic binder. I shape, mold and carve the clay as a sculptor or carver would. During firing the binder burns off and the metal particles fuse together.
