Fordite

THE STORY:

This stone isn't a stone at all!  This cabochon is created as cars were painted and the layers built up on the frames and puddled on the floor.  Eventually the frames were cleaned off and the layers of paint were cut into cabochons.  This material has traditionally been called Fordite.  This piece came from the Ford Rouge plant in Michigan. Sterling silver
